Default Additions to roll cage

Has anyone added to their roll cage yet. I'm not talking bolt in kits I'm talking just adding in weld in sections to beef it up. I'm looking into this now. If anyone could post some pics it would be great. Or if you could share any issues you found that would be great as well.

I strongly considered a true cage welded to the frame prior to installing a Rock Hard 4x4 Sport Cage.

I chose not to weld a true cage in because it will essentially work against the JKUR's crumple zones, and airbags. I am not saying the Jeep safety stuff is awesome, but it was engineered to work, so I selected a setup that is also engineered to work with the JKU as it "crumbles" and hopefully allow the driver and passengers the ability to be pulled from the wreck in event of a roll-over.

Not saying that is what you should do, but you may want to immobilize the airbags and install new restraints if you go with a true cage installation.

For the price, the Synergy weld in kit is a really good deal and a very well thought out design. Provides the much needed a-pillar tubes and it is tied to the frame with those. They do a good job of triangulating the cage as well. There are a couple of threads where guys made some additional improvements to along with the Synergy cage.

We have some really good pricing on those kits if you are interested. We just finished our custom roll cage and that is definitely the last one we will ever do. Far too many hours involved.

The front of my JKU is similar to the Gen 1 Synergy cage
The rear uses Poison Spyder's C-Pillar Kit with new spreader bars & replaced the cross bar.
The A & B pillars are tied into the frame.

My buddy had the rockhard cage and went ass over end with a 1/2 barrel roll in there and the jeep survived. We flipped the jeep over and drove it home back to Toronto from Moab lol. If you want to go bolt-in then I would go with rockhard without a doubt.

This is the picture (top one of the rear) that is concerning and highlights a needed design improvement. More likely to injure a backseat passenger than save them. There should be supports on each corner.

Nice job on the cage in your Jeep though. Looks good.

Anyone else?? I was looking at doing a design similar to synergy's. I like the looks of replacing the back cross bar I may look into that and see if it will work with my top.

I have Synergys from the B- pillar back. Will likely do Synergy in front at some point. Started with the back for the kids

Just got done doing some cage work in the rear. Still need to tie the A pillar in but its plenty strong the way it is now.

Both roll cages came out awesome!! Definitely like that slick back roll cage with tire carrier integrated on the back Dirtman..
