Default Poison Spyder Rock Brawler lite skid plate install

Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me and please forgive me if this has been asked before. I am new to the site.

I recently had the Poison Spyder full length Rock Brawler front & rear bumpers installed on my 2014 JKU. LOVE them! After spending over 2 grand buying them, getting them professionally powder coated and paying for install, I notice that the front crash bar exposed looks really lame.

I want to buy the lite skid plate (I know it's the same for the full length bumper too) and have heard one has to modify the crash bar (or even remove it completely) in order to install this on.

My questions are:

On the 2014s (I haven't seen a more recent post than 2012 on this topic anywhere) does crash bar modification still have to be done?

Also, can it be installed with the bumper already on or does the bumper have to come off and you install them together? I hate to think I paid good $ to have the damn bumper installed only to take it off and pay again to have these 2 things installed together. Ugh.

I am but a single chick with no dude to help me out on the installation so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Again, sorry if I missed this topic being talked about already....

Thanks for any advice!

First of all, welcome to the forum. Secondly, congrats on your purchase of Poison Spyder Customs bumpers.

To install the skid, in most cases you can get away without removing the crashbar completely. If you look at the ends where the supports extend below the crashbar, those need to be trimmed flush with the bottom of the crashbar. Once that is done, you can test fit the skid onto the bottom of your bumper. To install the skid, the bumper does not have to be removed.

Easy to uninstall and install bumper. Don't waste the money paying someone to do it, crash bar can stay, just have to cut off a couple sections (did it with my drumel). Bumper needs to be off to install to get all bolts in. Easier when off IMO

Crash bar can stay, the skid is meant to cover it.

You'll want to completely remove the bumper and install everything all together then reinstall.

My advise to you would be to remove the crash bar entirely and gain some ground clearance instead. I had a brawler lite a while back and just removed the unsightly crash bar and made a world of difference in appearance, approach angle and was completely free.

Agree with above. Cut off the crash bar and don't look back.

Default its gotta be on the bumper

or you cant get to all the bolts that hold it up ! and yes some things need to be cut off to make the whole thing fit. . but thats minor cutting (but still a pain ) but not whole crash bar needs to be removed. just tabs and things in the way. description said no cutting was needed , but not true. Get help . its not really a one person task unless you set up some sort of rest at bumper height to prevent having to handle the whole bumper & skid combo. plus your fog lights will need to be disconnected at that time to allow removal of the bumper. unless things were already cut off during the bumper install . its worth it to have skid plate on there though . It covers your disco motor too and protects it if its a rubicon. (while you have it off, add a short piece of rubber tubing to your coolant drain valve to prevent future hassle)

Thank you for the advice and that's a beautiful Jeep you have there!

Thank you all so much for the replies! I wonder why PSC just doesn't change their design so we don't have to modify our original Jeep, but what do I know? The bumpers on my Jeep are worth more than some complete cars out there on the road with the price, powder coating and then installation, haha.

Not sure if I'll just remove the whole thing or cut it just yet. Like I said, I'm kinda on my own for this sort of stuff so will probably have to pay someone to do it all.

PS-- when I was installing my new fog lights yesterday I noticed they chipped a little pain off the front of my Jeep, right where the front of the bumper meets just under the grille---probably when they were installing the front bumper. F*$k!!

Forgive me on the extra post here. I read your reply as not having to remove the bumper vs. not removing the crash bar so deleted it.
