Has anyone dyed their seats?

My buddy just got a 11 JK with the new interior, NICE, we have a 07 JKU with the two tone Grey seats, I'd like to dye them black, does anyone have any experience doing this, how many cans of dye needed, if it comes out good, and of course if it ends up on your clothes

Thx!

I've not seen anyone dying seats specifically, but seems people have tried to dye rollbar covers.....and results haven't been great. I would think that the seat material would probably have a similar outcome. I would be really worried that even when cured, if you ever sat in them with damp clothing, or even sweaty clothing that you'd get bleeding from the seats to your clothes. I'd much prefer to just buy either covers, or new skins.

Thanks, got my eye on a set of heated Corbeau's, just not in the budget right now, and my last seat covers didn't last sitting in the baking heat, thinking it may be an option till I get the new seats. Yeah wearing off on clothes concerns me

This first link is one that came to mind from the past. OP notes that dyes typically just not made for nylon. Both these links talk about painting. I've never looked at that, but you might research the Duplicolor fabric paint. Not sure how that would hold up on a seat that is getting rubbed against constantly. I could see how that might work for something like a rollbar cover that isn't touched all the time.

I had a nylon saddlebag on a motorcycle that would get faded from the sun. I used black spray paint. Just don't get so close with the can to allow puddles to form. Nylon is actually plastic, so maybe the Fusion line of spray paints for plastic would work.
I had carpet in my house dyed once. It was nearly impossible to wear white socks for the next year as they would get discolored from the dye.

I'd try seat covers. Avoid neoprene. They'll do the same thing.
