Regearing - Opinions needed
i have a 2016 jeep jku sahara automatic with 3.21 gearing. I will be running a 2.5 inch lift with 35's. I was wondering if i needed to regear or could i just settle for a superchip. If i do regear, what ratio should i get? from what ive seen i would go with 4.56 but want more opinions. This will be mainly a daily driver. Dana 30 in front . and rear Dana 44 if that helps. thanks
There are a million regear threads on here. When i re geared this spring I settled on 4.10(from3.21).if I didn't daily drive it I May have done 456 but for its intended purpose 410 is the sweet spot. Eventually I'll end up in a pair of 35" shoes and It'll be more than enough for them. I'm Currently on 33s and have 0 complaints. Plenty of power around town/pull on the highway and in the woods it's just right.
No tuner is going to add much to the current gearing. Regear is the only real solution. I would suggest 4.56. 4.88s gonna be a bit too much and 4.10s just not quite enough. You could "get by" on 4.10s, but if you're going to spend the money to regear, make it worthwhile. If you were able to find some axles with 4.10s in em and just do an axle swap......that might be the scenario where 4.10s would make sense. Reference the charts -

Your 35s are likely going to REALLY measure 33-34". The sweet spot for crusing highway speeds on our 3.6L really seems to be in the 2500-2700 rpm range if you ask me. Gearing too low isn't a big deal around town.....but it kinda sucks on the highway. I'd suggest forcing the jeep to drive in a lower gear at your typical highway speed, and see what it's like cruising at 2500 rpm and 2700 rpm. It will give you a decent idea.

Low elevations, flat lands, lots of highway, mild wheeling, go 4.10's
If you drive hills, mostly town, and often go off road then 4.56 or 4.88
If you think you might go bigger someday with tires to 4.88
