2010+ surrounds on 2008 JK 2-door?
I have seen a couple of recommendations on other threads to go to the 2010+ surrounds for pre-2010 JKs. I have a 2008 2-door with factory half-doors.
I didn't see an explanation for this.
What is the advantage for doing this?
Do they work the pre-2010 factory half doors (lowers and uppers)?
If ordering an aftermarket soft top, do I order one compatible with the 2008 JK, or do need to order a top compatible with a 2010 JK?
Do I need to make any modifications to use the 2010 surrounds?
I assume this is looking for Mopar/factory surrounds, right?
Thanks!

The recommendation is because of how the soft top latches to the door surrounds. On the early years you'd be snapping it into a channel over top of the door. On later years it just sits there. While I recommend the newer surrounds and style soft top, I haven't personally attempted a new style soft top with the old style surrounds.
You'll buy the soft top to match your surrounds, but 10+ is nicer if you can swing it.
No modification necessary on the surrounds, just enjoy not tearing up your fingers trying to pull that fabric out of the channel.
