Default front tow hooks with Mopar Off-Road front bumper?

Hi.

Towing from the rear of my JK is sorted, I hope, having chosen a receiver hitch and hook. But what about the front?

Most of my off-roading will be on the soft sand of desert dunes. I am planning around the phrase "light is right" (!) and am choosing not to have a winch. I am thinking the Mopar Off-Road front bumper is a lighter option than many of the winch bumpers - especially since I want one that is compatible with the airbags.

(Haven't yet figured out if all bumpers are OK with airbags. Or whether the Mopar bumper is any lighter that the winch bumpers... Advice would be welcomed!)

But... Is that Mopar bumper appropriate for use with hooks mounted to its upper surface, for example?

For those who like pictures I'm thinking of bolting a pair of these:

onto the top of this bumper:

Any better ideas?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Is that bumper not available with D ring tabs?

You should just get the stock front tow hooks, the bumper is made to work with them and you can usually find them in the for sale section.
They actually bolt into the end of the frame rails and would be much stronger then the ones you posted just bolted to the top of the bumper.

Or you could go the more expensive route like I did lately, I cut off the ugly crush cans and bolted up some Pure Jeep d-ring mounts

How did you go about mounting the lights on the bumper? Are their pre driller light mounts? Or did you just sort of make a spot for them? They seem to fit ok? I like the Mopar bumper, but I need a place to mount my fogs.

That looks perfect, for my needs. Thanks!

There are pre drilled holes in the bumper for lights, but not where I wanted them. They put them out on the end of the bumper in front of the flares
So I just drilled my own holes for the stud mounted lights.

First, many thanks for posting pics and the suggestion for tow hooks.

I have decided the Mopar bumper (non-winch) would suit me perfectly. Just like the other guy in that thread (ESPMike), though, I am now wondering about mounting additional lights to the bumper...

Since I'm not going for a winch, I hope to have room for four lights (1pr driving lights in the middle and 1pr fogs to the sides). However, the grill guard bar is much lower on the Mopar bumper than on many competitor products. Would you think there is enough space for the 4 lights I mention?

(Its hard to tell from the Quadratec site how much room there is to mount lights in front of the bar - and in the country where I live, there is nobody who supplies them where I can see for myself!)

Alternatively, what do you think to the access from behind the bumper - is space available in the 'wings' to fit flush-mount fog lights (in a similar way to the factory lights)?

If you have time to answer, I'd be very grateful. Happy for you to post a reply to that thread rather than reply to this PM if it saves you time in answering my question and that from ESPMike.

Many Thanks.
All I did was drill holes in the bumper for the lights to mount in. The lights would not fit where I have them with the stock tow hooks though (another reason why I got rid of them) but if your getting the non-winch bumper, you'll have all kinds of room to mount the lights where the winch usually is. Im not sure if 4 lights would fit between the stock tow hooks though, two lights would be easy. As you can see in the pictures, the grill hoop tilts back a little, so the closer you get to the center, the more depth you have for the lights. My lights actually touch the hoop where they are mounted now, but I didnt have anywhere else to put them. I didnt want to block the turn signals, and I didnt want them on the ends of the bumper where Mopar drilled the holes either.
Here are some more pics of them....
