Hi! so i rolled my 2012 jk whille towing my friend home after mudding, it landed on the right side and did one full roll before coming to a rest on the drive side. The major damage is to the windshield and top of the windshield frame i guess. im still waiting for insurance to take a look at it but i was wondering what yalls opinions would be on it as far as cost of repairs or if they might just say its totaled. there is very small bend in the roll cage but other then that the exterior damage is to the fenders and other minor scratches. thanks for the help!
This one will be interesting to follow. This could be one of those times insurance really pays up and you fix it for a small amount or go with upgrades vs factory, or they could total it due to something like the rollbar damage which might not be a big deal at all, but not a part that is simply replaced. I would bet that either way you could come out a decent winner assuming there is no other major or hidden damage. Just my gut guess though.
Usually you need 75%+ of the vehicle's value worth of parts and labor for it to be totaled. I don't think you're there. There is a guy here who bought a rollover and he's rebuilding it, but his was much worse.
I can see a $12-15k repair estimate. I am curious too on what they come up with. When I rolled mine I just fixed it myself. I did not have the doors or top on though when it happened and I live with the dents in the hood. A painted windshield frame and new glass was bout $1100
Dirtman is right on the money thing AFAIK. There are many hidden things that are not seen at first. Airbags never activated? The cage is going to be the issue for a repair and places far away from where the rollover damage occurred could be damaged. EG gas tank and components broken?
Stick with that story that you rolled it while driving down the road, not while you were out mudding. Some insurance companies won't cover damage related to off-roading or competition activity.
Looks to me like you need more than a windshield and a few scratches buffed out though.
