Help me figure out my next suspension?
First of all, the current specs of the rig as it sits:
2016 JKU, 40” Trail Grapplers, Beadlocks (ATX Slabs)
AMW hemi swap (5.7)
ProRock 60/80, 68.5” width, 3.5” BS wheels
Hard top, Hardrock front rear bumpers with 40” spare beadlock. (only mentioned to give a sense of weight distribution)
Right now the suspension is a beat up metalcloak 3.5” lift w/control arms and Fox 2.5 x 10” shocks. As the springs have sagged under the weight I added a 3/4" spacer front and rear.
Over the years I’ve been buying into the hype about the Genright Elite suspensions and figured that was my end goal, but since discovering Tony’s youtube channel that has waned.
And I mean no disrespect to Tony, or the brand. But the Genright rabbit hole looks a little something like this collection of quotes from Tony.
“You just need to get-over-it and move that gas tank to the back of the jeep”
“You just need to get-over-it and rip that dash out and run an LS/LT engine”
“You just need to get-over-it and run a manual valve body transmission"
“You just need to get-over-it and ditch the AC compressor for better cooling”
Ect. Ect.. - 3” Coil overs, gutted body, aluminum everything…. Heck, half the undercarriage pics he shows of the rigs don’t even have catalytic converters…
I get it.. No compromise for performance, or at least that is the brand. (Even though most of the clips Tony shows of his suspension systems tackling an obstacle seem cherry-picked with either no witnesses or in a jamboree of other Genright jeeps… Okay, I admit it, now im a suspension sceptic…
Even if it is worth all the hype and money. I’m just not a “no compromises” kind of guy. I don’t bomb over whoops at 100mph. I want my jeep comfortable and factory-looking inside"
I do want to be able to do hard trails like Pritchett canyon, but I won’t ever be aspiring to sign up for a hell and back challenge... I want my jeep to stay comfortable; I like to be able to sleep in the back of it; don’t want it all chopped up ect…
The more I learn about coilovers the less I want them…
Now my springs are sagging, shocks are wearing out, I broke a MC front upper control arm... I am ready for a change but now I don't know what... I wouldn’t mind a little more flex for rock crawling, and I am starting to think 12” shocks front and rear might be a good target. But I know just enough about suspension to make some bad decisions. What would you do with a suspension on this jeep if you were in my situation?

I hear you about keeping the jeep like a jeep. I used to watch the 24 hour thing too. But now not so much because I don’t want my rig to be like that. I think maybe you should look at a long arm kit.
