Default Help me choose exhaust purchase

I think it's safe to say that the "best" sound is subjective to each person, so opinions may differ here. I'll be getting a Cat back system and it will be going on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler JK, 4 door Automatic, Banks cold air intake. I'm still newer to the Jeep world. I've essentially watched and listened to every Jeep wrangler Magnaflow youtube video. But all the sounds are different depending on the cell phone/camera it was recorded on.

Right now I'm between the Magnaflow Overland cat back and the Magnaflow Offroad Pro cat back. Most of the Overland's I've heard sound to be what I'm after, but I've heard a couple on youtube where the sound is very lacking. The opposite with the Offroad Pro, where it has a distinct "that's aftermarket" rumble, but concerned it will be louder than what I'm after. Let's also throw in a couple Dynomax Evolution, and Ultra Flo

Overland Cat back - Has the resonator and exits over and just after the rear axle
Offroad Pro - No resonator and much shorter ending before the rear axle
Dynomax Evolution - Similar to the Magnaflow Offroad pro. Shorter and drops before rear axle
Dynomax Quiet crawler - Also a short pipe which drops before the rear axle

What I do not want:
-I do not want a LOUD exhaust
-I do not want it to drone at cruising speeds
-I do not want a raspy exhaust that sounds like a fart
-I do not want it to sound like a Honda
-I do not want it to sound like I'm trying to make a V6 sound like a V8

What I want:
-I want a smooth rumble sound
-I want a lower rich tone, not a high pitch "Tin can" sound
-I want a single exit (I'm not into rock climbing or much off road, so clearance isn't an issue)
-I want to hear it! I want it to sound aftermarket. I don't want to be underwhelmed and feel as if its not loud enough, but do not want to drive off and think, "holy hell....that's loud."

What do you all think?

likely not a popular opinion, but I don't think you're ever going to make a V6 sound good. Everyone wants something different out of their jeep. For me it is purely function. Cheap Thrush Welded muffler tucked way up tight in the factory location. Can barely see it behind a minimal "skinny" rear bumper and certainly nothing that has any potential to creat clearance issue with rocks. Doesn't sound half bad to me and was dang $80 total, installed with little cash in the muffler guy's hand.

Considering you just came into this jeep, I might urge you to save the money on exhaust at the moment cuz I suspect you might have a few unforeseen things to address at some point. The learning curve with a modded jeep is pretty high, and 3.5" lift with 37s is on the higher end of being modded. I don't see them mentioned in your other thread, but you might update if your driveshafts and ball joints have been upgraded yet, what kind of caster correction the jeep currently has, and if there is high steer kit installed. These are things that could soak up some funds if they need to be addressed, and they are going to be much more important than an exhaust.

Just my 2c and worthless opinion.

**i should have mentioned brake upgrades too**

I did a Dynomax for the resonator & Magnaflow cross muffler. A bit richer sound with no done at highway speed.

Agree with resharp001, focus on the important stuff.

"Function Over Form", and don't be in the "Lights Before Lockers" crowd.

I use the Walmart Dynomax perfect fit 1 inlet and 2 outlets. No drone and was very inexpensive. Takes 10 minutes to install and flows better behind my V8. If I could get a silent muffler I would have it.

Anything quality (no drone) that tucks up high, I've used the Rugged Ridge version for many years.
