Default 285/75-16 R they wide enuff??

Those of you with this setup...would you do it again? Thinking of going with 285/75-16 on 8in wide gear alloy 713mb.
Question is will these be wide enuff too be "kewl" without looking like street tires on rims offset way out...you know what I'm talking about
other option is to go with 17x9 and 286/70-17?? oh yeah...i want to avoid a lift if possible unless it is just a leveler in front..

I'm running 285/70R-17s w/ no lift (I think it is the equivalent to 285/75/16s) and imo it's wide enough...although, since I didn't change my rims, I have to add spacers (next week) so I can get rid of the rub at full turn which would bump my tires out another 1 1/2".

heres a few pics of mine 285/75 16 buckshot mudders on pro comp steel wheels with 4.5" backspace. adding 2" coil spacer lift when it arrives, but nothing rubs right now with on-road driving. i think offroad there would be some rubbing upon compression.
