My new magnaflow
I just got my Jeep back from the muffler shop this afternoon. I used the 6"x 18" magnaflow universal muffler and ran the pipe straight out the back, opposite side from stock. The throttle response is better, the power is a little better, and the sound is pretty good. It still has a little rice to it, but it's deeper and throatier than a rice burner. I think it sounds pretty good.
Just from driving it today, around town you can hear the exhaust, but it's not annoying loud. And with the radio on, you can barley hear it. On the highway, with the windows up and the radio off, you can't hear a thing.
I just want to thank 1BADJK (I stole your idea's) for all the work he did (check out this link https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/results-848/). This info saved me a lot of money and work.
I'm going for the intake next and a chip really soon. Thinking about 1.5" spacers with my stock wheels and tires for a while.

It cost me $200 for the muffler and the labor. From what everyone else is saying, it was on the high side, but I was happy with it. I just had the Muff shop order the muffler and do all the work while I was out of town.
After looking at the finished job, I realized that I could have done it myself pretty easy. Don't get me wrong, he did a good job, but this is all you need to do.
Take off old muffler
cut stock pipe below drivers side door, after the 2 into 1
slide on muffler ($80 online) and clamp
cut out about 20" of stock pipe to make room for the muffler (the bend over the axle is already made for you if you do it this way)
slide onto muffler, clamp
have the muffler shop make you a small piece of pipe for the tip
Would cost about $100
I am going out of town for a week tomorrow, but when I get back I will try to post a sound clip.

I put the CoolTech Magnaflow on. A little pricier, but the kit also includes a heat shield. I've noticed no difference in heat transfer under the driver's seat since it was installed. Very easy install. I initially thought it was a little loud, but I love the way it sounds on the trail - especially with the top down!
The best part is all of the room it frees up where the stock muffler was, which is the real reason I bought it in the first place.
