Default radiator bug screens

The bugs are back. Are there any aftermarket bug screens that protect the radiator from them little buggers. Maybe something that fits between the front grill and radiator. Thanks Dan

Before you spend so much money- search for "Grill Mod" in the Writeups. It takes, oh about 1-2 hours and costs about $21.00. Go to Home Depot (or Lowes, your choice ) get 4 pieces of the 3'x6" Gutter Guard Mesh. Go to electrical, and get the 1"x1" ziptie blocks and then some small zipties (and you may want some strong glue as well)

You will cut the pieces for the back of the grill, tie them up together and done!

The picture attached is what it looks like on the back of the grill. PM for any questions!

I just cut a piece of aluminum screen (dark gray) 21" by 21". I folded each edge over twice, about 1/4" each time. The end result was a screen 20" by 20" with reinforced edges. I removed the plastic cover over the radiator and dropped the screen down in front of the radiator/condensor assembly, then reinstalled the plastic cover. It stands up straight and is captured in place. No glue or plastic ties at all.

Ronjenx,

What size screen did you use...the 'square' size? I was at the the Depot today looking at the gutter guard and screening. Gutter guard looks really good, but I think a finer 'tooth comb' will help keep the small little stones and the bugs better then thge bug guard.

I think just your average screen door screening should do the trick, and still allow plenty air to keep my 3.8 happy.

Thanks

I wish i knew how you did it for $20 cause after buyin expanded aluminum sheet , wire ties , a couple cans of spray on bed liner and the little wire tie mounting blocks I spend $80 to install the mesh and bedline the whole grill and mesh . To me its worth the cash but it would have been nice to only spend $20.

I used the type of screen for a screen door. Has been working fine since 2008.

Thanks! I'm going to do this tomorrow...just need to figure out the best method of installation. You mentioned remove the plastic top on the rad cover....I'm sure once I'm under the hood this will make sense and I will complete this task.

At the same time I will visualize the Mopar auto trans cooler installation. I down loaded the PDF file instructions....looks like you spend more time removing plastic bits then anything....No verbage in the instructions, lots of pixs and the odd reference to the shop book....looks pretty straight forward...ordering one very soon.

Yes, tearing the parts out takes the most time. The plastic piece that goes under the radiator frame is the hardest part. You just have to trying until it practically jumps out at you.
