Default Shocks....question

I'm trying out some new shocks but I have a question about them.

My teraflex shocks expand automatically. When you compress them, they expand back.

The new shocks came compressed. When you expand them, you can hear the oil circulating. When you then compress them, they don't expand back instantly like the teraflex ones. I've never seen shocks that don't expand back.
Is this right? You can definitely hear the oil circulating when you compress and expand them though.

Your Teraflex shocks are gas charged. Your new ones are hydros if they don't expand on their own.

Thanks you
That's what I'm looking for. And I just verified they are hydro shocks
I've never used the hydro shocks before

Do you know any of the benifits/downfalls of each?
