Default Dana 44 Gear installation instructions

Hi All,

Please help ! I have a '07 JK Unltd Rubicon and want to change diff ratios to 4.88's. I got the Superior gears and bearing kits, took the Jeep to my nearest Chrysler dealer after confirming that their in-house diff specialuist has done work on Dana 44' before. This morning I got a call from the workshop manager saying they need the specs for the shims and depth the gears run to do the job, the modified gears are not specified in the standard specs they have. I freaked out, because I wanted to take the job to an experienced shop but because I do not want to forfeit my warranty I am obliged to take to the Rubi to a dealer. Anyone out there with experience , please post the specs for the thickness on shims needed for both the crownwheel as well as the pinion. I am going to hate myself forever If they make a stuff-up of the job.
I am desperate ! Please, I need instalation instructions with all specs needed for the job at hand.

Thanks.

I've installed gears for over 25 years and on EVERY SINGLE set I've EVER installed, the ring gear backlash specs and pinion gear depth specs were stamped on the gears themselves. EVERY time. I can say with almost 100% certainty, that Superior Gearsets are no different.

Agreed....My 5.13's were from superior and it was stamped on them as well. Not to worry you but if their experienced "Gear Guy" doesn't know this I wonder how experienced he is???

Inexperience. Sorry, but it's probably a fact. The dealer mechanic is probably a tire buster that "lucked out" and got a job at a dealership.
