Due to you guys being a bad influence....
....I have decided that the 33" tires I have are no longer big enough. So my question is.....
I love the way this thing handles now with the 33's, infact it drives better than stock. I only have 3.21's and yes I know I will need to regear but finances will not allow me to do tires and gears at the same time. First, will putting 35's change the handling of the Jeep? Will it still drive as good as it does now? Will I need to do anything other than a 1" body lift to make it work right? With my tires having 34k on them (they have maybe 10-12k left on them) I will be replacing them first, will I hurt anything driving on 35's for 5-6 months till I can afford a gear change? Will I still be able to go offroad with 3.21's?
A lot of questions I know, and I am sorry for that but this does have me concerned, I can't afford to do both right now and I will need the new tires for the winter.
ps. being as it you guys fault I want to step up, I think it is only fair that each of you send me $10, then I can afford all of this at once and this post will be mute......Thanks

ThumperK15 had 35's and 3.21's when we met up at Disney last year. He had the same heavy Hankook Dynapro M/T's I had and he still off roaded with us. If you do a lot of highway driving, you will have to shift a lot more. Around town you will be fine.
Well, as far as the height, yes, adding a 1" BL should do the trick to clear 35's. One thing though, I am not sure if you are running the stock rims. If you are, you will need wheel spacers for the 35's to work right. They would run you about $200 for the complete set. Otherwise, you will have issues with the tires rubbing. As for the ride, the Jeep will tend to be a little bouncier with the larger tires. It has nothing to do with your set up, it is just the nature of the beast when it comes to larger tires on anything. That can be "adjusted" somewhat by playing with the tire pressures. I will tell you that it has been my experience, that almost every tire shop tends to put more air pressure in oversized tires than what you will want to run.
I have been running 35's now for almost a year with 3.73 gears. I too plan on regearing when my budget allows. I do not drive in an area with a hills, and very little highway, so I am not too bothered by it. I turn off the overdrive (automatic) everytime I get in the Jeep now out of habit. I have learned to live with it, so I do not really notice it anymore. I am not sure about 3.21's, but I would imagine if you do mostly city driving and not too many hills, then you would be able to tolerate until you can swap gears.
Good luck, and $10 is on the way!

GE2 ran 35s and 3.21s I believe for quite a while before moving up to 5.13s so he could tow a trailer this summer. You might want to PM him and ask him to chime in here. I don't think he was that unhappy. He hasn't got many posts here, but he's got tons on other forums and has a lot of knowledge to share. Plus he's done tons of mods to his Jeep so he's always a good source of info.
