Default Buying tires/wheels tomorrow - help with backspacing

I am about to buy
Wrangler MT/R 285/75R-16 which are 11.3" wide 33.1" tall

my 08 Sahara with 1 3/4 sus lift came with 18x7.5 rims with 6.25" of BS for its P255/R70-18 tires which are 10.03" wide and 32.05" tall

Assuming I get 16x8 wheels, I figure my tires are 1 inch wider, which means they stick in towards the suspension an extra 1/2 ". I am thinking 5" of backspacing will give me and extra 1.25", which gets me back the 1/2" I lost with the wider tire, plus 3/4 inch of safety margin.

Is my thinking correct here?

thanks

With 5" of BS you will be fine, quite a few people are running 285's on the stock wheels with little or no rubbing.
