I have a JK 2008 Unlimited X and I just ordered a 4" lift kit for it, now I'm trying to decide between 33" tires and 35" tires. I heard the engine can't pull 35" tires well and I was wondering if there was any truth to this.

 

From my experience, 35s and 5.13s feel the same as a stock rubicon (acceleration/cruising). If you are not going to regear, I say 33s.

 

Well I'm nowhere near a mechanic, but I do have a mechanic friend who's helping me with my jeep. He ordered me my lift kit and I think he wants me to put a chip in, too. Other than that I don't think I'm doing anything else besides tires and rims.

Edit: And I should probably mention, mostly what I'm putting on my jeep is for looks, but I also need this to last for a good 6+ years.

 

Question; why would you lift it 4" to run 33's? With that lift you are pretty much committed to 35's.

If you want to run 33's, go with a 1" body lift and save all of the headache.

 

Cause I live in the south where everyone lifts everything, it's just the style here. Only reason I want 33s is cause I hear 35s aren't pulled well by the engine.

 

If you want your tires to look like little bitches run 33s on a 4 inch If you want it to look good run 35s and save money for gears cause you are gonna need them.

 

if you have 4:10 gears it will be fine to go with 35's.

 

I'm pulling 37" tires with 5:13 gears and it feels the same as it did when I drove it off the stealership lot. Go for the 35's and regear asap.

 

Yeah I'm basically retarded when it comes to vehicles in general, so how would I know what gears I have now?

 

I love the Fabtech 3" lift and works well,I have 35" tires with 4:10's and does very well on and off road
