Default Double Tube CAI

Anyone heard of or have any experience with the double tube air intakes out there? It comes off the intake manifold and splits into a Y and then has two cone ends. I was just wondering if anyone knew about these.

I don't think there would be any improvement over stock. The engine isn't beign starved of air with a stock intake, or a cold air intake, and I think these are mainly designed for high performance engines where a normal cold air intake can still starve the engine of air.

i'm no mechanic but wouldn't you have to compare tb cfm rate to the filter's capability. my guess is a stock engine again can't out breathe the filter.

Stock no, but like Camp's current project Orange Crush it sounds like he is having issues with his built engine getting starved of air. I would think this may be one of the few times when you could need to go this route.

This in itself is why the CAIs are not making a big improvement. The stock boxes already are able to move more air than the engine needs.

Its not necessarily a gimmick unless it claims something it cannot do. Some people might want it just because it looks cool. In that department, it probably fits the bill.

It goes back to the "ram air" intake systems with dual hood scoops or cowls. It could work but I haven't seen a dual intake system for the JK.

Ussually reserved for underhood spaces that can't afford a single large cylindrical filter.
