Default OME lift kit

Hello,

I m new to this forum and new to Jeep's world! I'm the proud owner of a JK CRD Sport 2dr (equivalent of the X in the US + some goodies such as air co comes standard) since a month now. I browse this forum to find answers to my questions: OME spring/shocks fitting. I would like to give a bit more height to my JK, I don't want to give it to much, around 1 inch. The OME spring/shocks gives at least 2 from my reading and may be more.

Knowing I have the diesel engine do I have to take the HD spring or med load spring (I don't have any mod yet and I don't plan a bumper CH regulation...)

The second question is, do I have to swap the track bar to re-centre the axle properly and do I have the swap also the a-arms upper/lower front/rear to keep the suspension geometry? I looking for this a complete set (Teraflex Complete FlexArm).

Thanks for you answers.

Cheers,

Christophe.

Welcome !

This is mine with OME HD kit, with 33s.
If you are not going to add heavy bumpers etc. you are happy with MD kit.
You will get 2in lift with it. If you need only 1in lift why not body lift then..
Anyway i am happy with HD as i have a winch also and i often go for offroad trips to Russian side where road infrastructure is not so great.

You dont really need new track bars, originals are fine enough. Earlier i had Teraflex 2,5in budgetboost wit oem track bars and did not notice much difference. If you go over 2 inches swap your rear swaybar links to front and get new longer ones to rear.

Hello WGR,

Yes I can do a body lift but I rather prefer to change the spring/shocks more travel for off road and I hear a lot for positive comments on the OME set.

No problems with the arm? to re-centre the axles?

Well...how to say it...if you go with OME lift you can manage with oem track bars and with rear track bar relocation bracket that comes with this lift kit. But it's always better if you can dial in correct adjustments. New trackbars are not that expensive...i got mine without any problems from Quadratec within a 8 days after placing my order. They have had great service.

Btw...no need to change your control arms at all. Keep your originals if you meant that in your first post. (..a-arms)

I have the MD springs (with added front 3/4" spacer) with heavy bumpers (no tire carrier) and I got exactly 2".

The OME springs (from what I hear) are some of the best ones out there. But, if you don't want that much lift, take a look at the Currie Long Travel kits for the JK.

The front kit does have a spacer for the front coils, but that is only to level out the front end. Those kits don't require any new trackbars or brackets, but they do fit 33s just fine AND they give you almost 2" more articulation up front AND in the back!

Just food for thought.....

Thanks for you answers.

I will investigate these possibilities. But I must say, it is not that I don't want a 2'' lift, this lift is mostly for cosmetic rather than hard core off road but if I go for this 2'' lift I prefer to take what seems to be the best choise, I hear no so good opinions on the coil spacer.

I m doing off road moderately. I'm going quite frequently south of France for rock climbing, which I have to drive off road to go the big walls, but I have 400km to get there so I don't want too much degradation for these 400km mostly highway.

This JK is the best car I could think about, bring me to the big walls (off road), one of the cheapest convertible (south of France is sunny all year around) and I find this car very cool.

contact ARB--maker of the OmE kit. They make specific springs for the diesels. none of us in america can get them because the diesel isn't sold here.
they are heavier duty than even the HD springs i think because of the weight of the diesel engine.
