Default Need help picking out lift..

Money is an object, so your thoughts on the full traction, black diamond, and teraflex 3" lifts for my Wrangler X... I know full traction has 3 versions of their lift, but I'd like to keep it under $1k if possible. Thanks, Matt

I have the Skyjacker 4", but we just installed a Black diamond 3" on an Unlimited here at my work, and it looks like a good kit and the price is pretty good too. It doesn't have lower control arms , neither do most middle of the road kits, but it does have a front adjustabale track bar, which is a plus most other don't have. The rear trackbar bracket is much shorter than the Skyjacker one and is probably why they don't have any reported failures with it yet, unlike Skyjacker.

Now, with that said. I like my Skyjacker kit, I'm just going to brace the rear bracket no matter what and it's nothing new, TJ's had the same problem.

+1 for the 3" Black Diamond kit.....the addition of the front adjustable track bar makes it one of the better values for a basic kit.

Thats what I was thinking.. I could also add adj control arms via daystar or teraflex later on, to make it even better at a later date right? How are the shocks that come w/ black diamond, th eride quality?

Yeah, I plan on adding adjustable upper and lower arms later which will render my Skyjacker lowers useless. Check out cablerep79's gallery. He has a good setup, kind of sounds like what you might be looking for and he's using 15's that work for sure.

I can't tell you about the stock BD shocks though. I went with Skyjacker Nitro's primarily based on what other's had wrote about them. I also didn't install the cam bolts that came with the kit used to adjust caster because I anticipated adding adjustable arms later but after seeing how it rides, I doubt I'll be buying them now. My ride is not much different from stock and I didn't need an alignment afterwards. If you decide to go with BD though, I doubt you'll need the extra 3/4" spacers up front. I'm taking them off this weekend. I also replaced the stock exhaust today with the Dynomax cat back system.....it's nice to be able to hear the exhaust again!!

how much did that Dynomax set you back? I was thinking it might be pretty loud since it looks like a 6" round muffler.

$233 with shipping from 4wd.com. It was hell getting the stock exhaust out but only took about 15 minutes to install the dynomax. I like the sound of it, haven't driven enough to notice any performance gains but don't really expect to see many until I buy a CAI.
