35x12.5 tires on stock rubicon wheels?

35x12.5 tires on stock rubicon wheels?
Can't seem to get a definitive answer on this.
I know the rim size for the stock Rubicon rim is 8" and that most (all) 35x12.5 tires show a rim size of 8.5" and up.
But....I've seen a couple posts on here of peeps running 315/70 R17's..... which is the same thing as a 35x12.5.
So..... will they fit (safely)? Are there issues with stability when driving on road (especially at interstate speeds?)
The search and sticky don't address this exact Q. Those topics only cover max tire size on an unlifted Jeep.

I run 35's on my stock rim. They fit, no problems at all at any speeds ( I run 80-90 mph sometimes). I had them for about 10K miles.
So the answer is YES, they fit.
Now as for safety, I'm not concerned but I don't want to give you the wrong answer so maybe someone else can mention the saftely aspect.

I actually ran 35's on my stock wheels with no lift for a while. They rubbed the sway bar links at full lock. Never thought of wheelin it like that though. With a lift you shouldnt have a problem.

If you use the stock wheels with 12.5" wide tires you are going to rub, especially on the inside rear suspension. You will need to get wheel spacers of at least 1" or probably 1.5" so you have enough backspacing (4.75") min is recommended so that you don't rub.
