Default Value of OEM Parts After Upgrades?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has found value in original equipment parts removed from their Jeep when upgrades were made.

I have a 2008 JK Rubicon 2-door. I am close to making a decision about a 3" lift. I'll probably be replacing all the springs, upper control arms, shocks, bump stops, and maybe more. Next will be the lower rear control arms and both driveshafts. Then sometime in the future (hopefully not too long) I'm probably going to be upgrading to 35s and new wheels.

I have about 500 miles on the JK, so the parts will be in pretty good condition.

I'm normally a packrat, and was thinking that I would like to keep the parts; but, if the parts would be valuable enough to sell, it would sure make buying the upgrades more attractive.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Jeff

Not much. Probably whatever the going rate is for scrap.

The parts won't be worth much. Your best bet is to take some pics and sell them on this forum, or Craigslist. When I installed a lift I sold my Stock Rubicon shocks, coils and front/rear trackbars on this site for $100+shipping. In most cases the stock parts are not worth selling, give the amount of $ involved. Scrap them and move on.

I'd suggest like the others to try craigslist if you really don't want them laying around.

A suggestion I have is if you have the room to store them then keep them. If for some reason you ever sell the Jeep it's probably best to put the stock stuff back on and make a better buck off your used upgraded parts.

I would keep them rather than tossing them for scrap. There will come a day when someone will need it and you can either sell it or give it away. Try Craigslist and if that does not work, just hold on to it. You never know. I keep mine just in case the Jeep is ever wrecked and the lift can be salvaged. I would pull the lift and throw the stock setup back on before the insurance could take it.
