Hi,

Can anyone tell me how I can use the rear locker on my 08 jk rubIcon? That way I don't always have to use 4 wheel drive. Thanks for your help!

You will have to rewire the system. The factory will not allow you to work this out. I rewired mine so I can use them any time I want.

+1 to what what zip said.

I added a Mopar D44 to the front and had to decide to how to wire the front locker, like stock or custom. Ended up going custom, which is basically sending 12 V to the front locker through a radio shack switch plus I added an LED to show locker status. All in all I think it's a way better setup as I can lock the front whenever I want and avoid the computer nannies. It would be the same for the rear locker, plus the wiring is already in place. Even easier.

Here's a writeup on the mod. This is way more complex than it needs to be - all you really need is a wire from the locker relay through a simple switch to ground. Or you can do it this way with all the bells and whistles. I did mine the simple way in about 30 minutes:

The tread above is invalid...

Does anyone has a write-up about the modification to the Rubicon locker wiring to use them in 4hi and 2wd?

Very easy mod, works flawlessly. You will know it is working cuz the locker light will flash, it will never go steady like in 4lo

I would like to know what the Detroit will do differently that you won't need 4WD in 4WD situations? It's fully locked, but with the ESP, how will you be driving differently?

I have gone a lot of places in 2wd with a locker that would have required 4wd before. Its especially handy in my Truck when I dont feel like locking the hubs
