Default Track Bar Bracket at Axle

Hi,

Sorry for the double-post. (I asked this question in another thread; but, I am afraid it might be overlooked.)

I am almost complete with the install of the OME LT kit from David at Northridge. I am installing this kit on an '08 JK Rubicon 2-door. Part of that kit includes adjustable track bars for the front and rear.

I have searched for an answer to this question; but, I haven't found anything that really makes me comfortable.

I believe that I have read in other threads that there is a potential problem with the stock track bar bracket (axle side) on JKs. Or, am I mistaken?

Should I be considering having new brackets installed on the JK for the track bars? I don't see any extreme wheeling in my near future; but, I'd like to be prepared.

Thanks

Jeff

You should be fine with the original. Just check it for any signs of fatigue (e.i. cracks or busted welds).

Hi JKRockStomper,

Thanks for your opinion. ( One less thing to spend money on.)

If, in the future, you want to strengthen the axle side mounts check out the braces that JKS provides. Really beefy and substantial. I addressed the track bar mounts before installing the lift (I have the OME HD), just to give me some peace of mind.

What size lift are you installing? What size tires do you intend to run? I would consider beefing up both front and rear axle brackets. I have heard of failures on even moderately wheeled JKs with lifts.

Even before the my JK ever saw dirt I welded on mine.

if you run an adjustable tracbar you should not worry because the force applied to it remains the same there is no leverage like if you used a superlift or skyjacker braket

the drop brackets are aswell safe too
