Default budget winch

Hello All ,

I Just reciently put on a Mopar Off-road bumper , with the winch cutout and factory light holes .
I am looking to find a budget winch so I can complete my front end . Are any of the approved venders having any discounts on these. As we all know getting into wheeling can be expensive and there is so much more I want to do .
I live in the northeast of New Jersey are there any reputable 4X4 shops here. I am looking foward to go wheeling : )

Thanks to All who reply

There are a few to choose from. Smittybilt makes a couple cheaper winches and you can find some at Harbor Freight. I read a shootout of winches and of course Warn performed the best so I think that you get what you pay for while some of the cheaper ones died early in the test. The only budget winch that made it to the end was the HF one. Check your local Craigslist for some deals, people are always getting rid of them.

I know hwere your coming from on that one.

I have been racking my brain also on this one and searching for the past couple weeks and this is what I have found.

Obviously the most popular name in the neighborhood is warn and also by far the most expensive.

Superwinch has had a great name and as far as I know a great product. As mentioned the EPI9.0 caan be purchased for around $600 give or take. However several companies who have previously carried Superwinch are less than thrilled with them and are leaving due maily to pricing issues. Be careful who you buy one of these from and make sure you can get after sale support ongoing.

Smittybilt has two lower priced models and I have read alot of decent feedback about them.

There are also Mile Marker, and several othe4rs out there with.

I asked myself how often I would be using it and for me not so often as to warrant the extra $ for a warn. I saw a price increase on Superwinch over the weekend on the non integrated Superwinch of about $75.00.

As for answering your original question, I am not aware of any authorized suppliers in the New Jersey area with great deals on winches. Most winches run about the same from vendor to vendor. You have to watch out for the Shipping and Sales Tax which may be applicable. Search the approved vendor sites then the internet.

Best you can do is read reviews on each in the price range you are thinking and decide how often you will be using it. From there you can make your decision.

Good luck with your search and let me know what you decide.

Do you have to remove the bumper to install the winch? Hate to see you have to remove the bumper to change out a winch... For me it is a lot of work. Maybe for others it isn't.

I just ordered the Superwinch 9000 epi on E-bay for $607 + 12.00 shipping ( Summit Racing). I was able to get 15% off ($91.00 ) from an E-bay coupon , so for about $510 I have a great winch at a great price!! Anyone should be able to get the 15% off if you change to the new E-bay motors format. Chris

Go for the Superwinch EPi 9.0, thats what I am going for, good winch at a reasonable price. Better warranty than Warn and a line spool rate that is comparable.
