Gears

Upgrade the axles if/when you break them.

How often and how hard do you wheel it?

I would say shafts.

4.10's and 35's aren't bad at all on the road and with the 4:1 case it's still a good ratio off road.

Axles take a bit of effort to break. They might not break for months/years depending on how hard you wheel your JK.

The gears will provide pleasure every time you drive it.

That'll get us back to the whole regearing based on tranny type discussion. But yeah, if you're even asking about gears, you already see the 'need' to regear. As opposed to shafts you may or may not ever actually break.

Gears. Then, when you do get shafts, all you need to do is slide them in.
