Default Olympic Mirrors - Disappointed

I ordered a set of Olympic mirrors from Quadratec: And I hate them.

They were recommended to me by another JK'er. They look fine, but they vibrate horribly on the road. Anyone else figured out how to stop the vibration? Use a different mount? I think the bracket is made of tubing and not solid enough. I have them on plenty tight, but the jitter is about to drive me nuts.

I wonder how many sponsors on this forum actually try their products before they sell them? I suspect at least one doesn't.

I have a Lange mirror, it vibrates as well, I've gotten used to it. It's the design on the rear of the mirror, it's not stiff enough.

We have 2 JK's that we have put a lot of different items on. You can't really expect a company like us or Q-tec to try out every single part we sell, but we rely on the feedback we get from customers. I have sold a couple sets of those mirrors, but I have not heard any feedback regarding them, this is the first. Every mirror that uses the ball and socket style to attach it, will have vibrations. Some you can tighten up by tightening the one screw on the back of the mirror, just don't overtighten and strip it.

I had to buy an interim solution when I was on the road and found rotating the mirror 90 degrees helped a little and also getting a couple rubber isolator washers. Still sucked, but was better and I was legal for the bit of time I needed it.

I have never liked anything I bought from Olympic. From My experience with them, they couldn't care less about their customers either.

I looked at those and didn't opt for them because I didn't want to have to deal with "other things" after the doors came off.

What I ended up doing was order the Rugged Ridge mirror relocation kit
http://www.quadratec.com/products/13125_102.htm

When I got the kit I had a body shop paint to match the black disks for my silver jeep.

You can still see that something is there, but for $60 it was worth it. I'll post pictures soon...

But point is that now I don't deal with mirror issues.

I picked up a couple of cheapos at NAPA Autoparts. They came with a bracket that works great! All you need to supply is a long enough bolt to get through the hinge.

I took some 1" square tubing to make a 6" extender for the passenger side. I mount it in the lower hinge. Gives me a great view of the right rear of the Jeep. Really nice on tight trails!

No vibrations either.
