Coming from Riverside, which is the best route to take to Rubicon trail. I5/99 or 395 thought Tahoe ?

 

395 definitely has the best scenery, but if you are looking for the fastest route, then take the 5 (70 mph speed limit) or the 99 (65 mph speed limit and a few traffic lights) depending on which has more or less traffic at the time you are traveling.

 

I agree with Cali....but if you do come up I-5, you may want to take 50 to Ice House, versus coming up through Georgetown. CHP has been very active on I-80, probably due to all the construction right at Yuba Gap up to Cisco Grove, which will be going on all summer. For the most part, they have been more active right after Auburn, which is after your turn off for Georgetown, but you never know. The advantage to coming up this way is the obligatory stop for a nice almost cool beer at Uncle Tom's.
