Big Bear Sunday Oct 9
Newtdog and I are gonna hit Big Bear Sunday. Please join us if you can.
This will be a relaxed, fun, "Mid" core wheeling trip in the rocks. Plenty of time to play "Wack a Mole" (registered trademark of Family Crawl Jeremy) as we move thru the trail. You can pick the rocks you feel like hitting. You're not required to hurry thru the trail. The run will be a perfect time to work on your skills and try different lines thru an obstacle until you clear it.
This is a rock crawling trip and not necessarily a site seeing trip. We will of course spend all the time needed to spot each other thru obstacles and have patience with those who wish to take several attempts at a section. We won't just hook up a strap and tug you thru the section if you get hung up (unless that's your wish). You may want to be tugged back and try a different line.
If you're interested in blazing the trail as fast as possible, this one isn't for you!
Requirements: At least MTs or ATs. No "street" tires for this one. Your sidewalls will puncture too easily. Sunday runs don't allow enough time to fetch another tire if more than one gets damaged. Tow points front and rear are mandatory! Rock rails such as stock Rubi rails or better are a must. Some form of lift is recommended, but not required.
You must be willing to accept damage to your JK if you choose to take a difficult line.
Requirements and trails may change depending on participation.
We will meet at Lake Arrowhead Village (time TBA), go up Dishpan Springs, and then to the Holcolm Creek trailhead. We will either run Holcolm Creek or run the opening rock garden in and out, then head off to Gold Mtn or Little John Bull.
Hope you can join us!
Update:
We will meet at 9am:
Lake Arrowhead Village
28200 Highway 189
Lake Arrowhead, CA
Looks like sunny skies for the weekend with 0% chance of rain. A little cold in the morning... I'm running no top, no doors.
Today at Lucas Off-Road Expo I heard these trails may be extremely muddy due to the rain this week... Therefore, I'm running top and doors to keep mud out of my Jeep. Just wanted everyone to know so you can plan accordingly.
It will be cold in the morning. Also, you should always bring enough warm clothing to get you thru the night if you have to stay with your JK overnite.
Going:
1. newtdog
2. MtnBiker
3. awwdude
4. Jeepitm8
5. Markinda909
6. GabrielG
7. mrtremere
8. svx93
9. thrshr01
10. Silver Rubicon
11. thombull

What kinda tires? I ask because we have had a couple of runs this year where a single JK had more than one tire punctured. Big pain in the A$$! One instance was on Dishpan and Holcolm. If this was a Saturday run, it wouldn't matter to me. Either way... Hope you can make it!
Is 9am at Lake Arrowhead Village OK? If anyone needs earlier or later... post up.
