EDITED

Ok let's make this official looking and stuff..... CALICO 9/10

Odessa Canyon through to Doran Loop. It should take about 4 hours. About half way through is the Bismarck Mine - bring a good flashlight for that - its fun - we can have lunch there, or just take a break. This is normally a really tough trail, but this late in the year the rock-stackers will have made it much easier for us.

meet at the trailhead at 0900? To get there, exit the 15 at Ghost Town Road and turn left (you can gas up here if you want). Follow the signs to Calico Ghost Town; go East about 0.5 miles past the entrance to the ghost town and turn left at the white pole marked "Doran Scenic Drive."

We will be staying at the travel lodge in Barstow on Friday and Saturday night. Probably open to a short run Sunday if there is interest.

I normally would. That is pretty much my back yard, but I have to work the next two weekends. Have fun though.

Please...I'm always ready for Calico! What trails are you doing and what is our start time? The weather is going to be extremely mild - high of only 93!

Had a great time out there with you two - I told my wife about you guys and she actually said that she will try to come next time - miracle!

Thanks for setting up this run. Sorry about so many stacked rocks (people really should unstack them when they are done!!) - I've never seen it that bad before, but it was still a great day and we had the trail all to ourselves.

I found that mega-thunderstorm that the code enforcement officer warned us about - it was just coming over the hill into the Antelope Valley as I was passing through. Thunder, lighting, hail, and a LOT of rain. Very good thing we got off the trail before that hit.

Next time.

We had a great time as well. I think this may well be my favorite trail. Thanks for showing us around. We look forward to doing it again.

Please let me know when you have time for that day trip up here.
