Default Camp Pendleton burning.

So we noticed a fire around noon today, turns out it burned 2000 acres by 5pm. A few structors lost, a CPFD fire fighter had to be rescued via helo when his dozer was compromised. They had every tanker plane, helo and department on this thing. My old housing area was evacuated and we were on standby to move. The fire reached about 1/2 from us before the winds pushed it east towards naval weapons station fallbrook where the fire crews are still working hard. My hats off to them! 95 degs and 10%humidity plus the shifting winds.

I saw the smoke driving home from Irvine. It was hot and windy today. Glad it did not get out of hand.

I used to love this weather till I lost my house to it in 2007. Now it makes me nervous, with smoke in the air I get down right jumpy.
I hope all fared ok.

Any updates on the fire? I heard about it on the way back from the Pomona Expo but didn't get the details.

It's pretty much contained. They still have a large camp set up and helos still flying. It pushed towards fallbrook and didn't see much smoke after 5pm. There were engines from all over sd county here and even dept of corrections line crews.

Spent last night knowing what it's like living in a smoker oven! Everything smells of smoke and ash covered everything. Finally washed the jeep though.
