F'ing Jeep
FowlerJE...Did you get this re-call on your JK? My 3/36k is complete but they said in the paperwork that they will extend this repair under the lifetime warranty.
Just out of curiosity? When they do that recall would they pull my old fuel pump and put it inside of my new tank or is it just one piece install? My fuel filter may be pretty dirty since the g/f likes to drive it with the low fuel light on. If I am going to pull the tank I want a new fuel filter.

Thanks for the info, busy at work today so couldn't call around to see who has one still in stock. I called the dealership and they said that it wasn't under warranty. I told them I had received the gas tank TSB in the mail however, my dumb ass told them that I haven't had the problem associated with the TSB yet so they said they wouldn't replace it and it was back ordered a few weeks as well. Does this sound right to anyone?
I was told to give them 1 or 2 day notice in order to get the tank replaced. If you got the notice in the mail, I think they have to honor the re-call paperwork. My gas tank didn't start doing it for about 20k, stopped for a bit and has been going strong since. Its a huge safety concern to have fuel spilling on the ground. If you have the paperwork in hand, I say they have to do it. In my opinion its a safety precaution so it doesn't happen. Ask the dealer if he would put his kids into the vehicle with the possibility of that happening.
From the JK Service Manual
WARNING: The fuel system is under a constant pressure (even with the engine off). Before servicing the fuel pump module, the fuel system
pressure must be released.
1. Drain and remove fuel tank.
2. Note rotational position of module before attempting removal. An indexing arrow is located on top of module for this purpose.
3. Position special Lockring Remover into notches on outside edge of lockring
4. Install 1/2 inch drive breaker bar .
5. Rotate breaker bar counter-clockwise to remove lockring.
6. Remove lockring. The module will spring up slightly when lockring is removed.
7. Remove module from fuel tank. Be careful not to bend float arm while removing.
Two fuel filters are used. One is located at the bottom of the fuel pump module. The other is located inside the module. A separate frame mounted fuel filter is not used with any engine. Both fuel filters are designed for extended service. They do not require normal scheduled maintenance. Filters should only be replaced if a diagnostic procedure indicates to do so.
The fuel pressure regulator is located within the fuel pump module. It is serviced by replacing the fuel pump module assembly.

Have you been looking at other Jeeps? Sometimes they shut down on you because the think you're cheating on them. I swear it really feels like that sometimes. At a stop light too? You where eyballing the Jeep next to you weren't you?
