One common mistake is that u have to actually connect to the go pro as a WiFi hot spot. Go to ur WiFi connections in ur phone and see if the go pro is there, they have a standard name and password if u didn't change it using the setup app through your computer

Thanks Duff, guess I found out the app isn't what I thought it was as I'm headed to an area with no cell service so no preview? I'll just have to stop and preview a few times till I get it aimed tight. Thanks for the clarification Cheers

Well the camera actually emits it's own mini wifi network and you connect your phone to that. No cell service needed. This is how the remote also works

Exactly this^
U can preview and use the app to start recording. Beforewarned the battery life of the go pro is rather lack luster. I am going to dremel out part of the case so I can plug the charging cord in and leave it charging full time (mine is on my dash and won't see water)

Buy The Frame

Allows for use of the charger, better audio quality, and keeps your from having to drill a hole in the case, rendering it useless.

Get yourself a gopro screen. Attaches to the back and works great. Comes with bunch of cases for it including touch screen that works under water. 70 bucks, well worth it!

Hey Thanks everyone I just might be able to pull this off yet. That being said I'm confident that Cecil B. De Mille and Ansel Adams have nothing to worry about !!
