Heim Tie Rod and High Steer Questions?
So, I'm thinking about deleting my ball joints with a heim with high steer and heim the track bar if needed. My steering is really bad at the moment, my ball joints are out. I wanted to see if anyone has done this setup and what they think of it. I've heard once you go heim you will never switch back to ball joints, but this is from jeepers that have older jeeps.
Go for it!! They can't be wrong if majority of all professional race teams use them for steering and suspension linkages.
I'm doing this to my ZJ when I can find some down time, maybe this summer. My ball joints are at such bad angles with my lift, they pretty much tore the dust boots the first drive out. I haven't pulled the trigger because I'm not sure if I'm keeping my axle or upgrading in the near future. Also with my current axle, I would have to relocate sway bar mounts, trim coil buckets, and redo the whole track bar setup for clearance and matching the new drag link angle.
For pre-fabbed custom steering and track bars, Bulletproof Steering seems legit and can make custom lengths for ANY vehicle. All they need is a few key measurements. The website is a b*tch to navigate and might cause seizures, but products look really nice. I think the pricing is reasonable considering their heims and hardware are expensive alone, and they come ready to install. I haven't priced everything on my own, but their prices and life-time warranties seem hard to beat!
Genuine Bullet Proof Tie Rod & Drag Link Packages
Here's a link to their installation procedure. Really not difficult to accomplish yourself.

I have no affiliation with Bulletproof, I just think they make a nice product for off-roaders. All the components are top-notch and well thought out.

I'd like to see/hear how it turns out if you try this.
There are lots of people running heims for things like end links and I wanted to go with them on my tie rod end links but was talked out if it. I'd like to see how well they do for road use over the long term.

Yeah some people are trying to talk me out of it too. My buddy with an XJ has it done on his. He absolutely loves it and will never switch back. Also he said his steering is amazing. One downfall though is during the summer when it gets hot he said it squeaks a bit, but nothing WD40 can't fix.
