I could just puke !
Well, the Escondido police just left after investigating the theft of my Garmin GPS unit from my dashboard. No big thing you say, it happens all the time. Well, the difference is that my JK is always in the garage when I'm not driving it. Yesterday afternoon about 4:30 PM, when my wife came home from work, both of our garage doors were up. Very unusual. I checked for missing items and the only thing missing was a pair if cheap sun glasses I had in the dash of the Jeep. I just figured that I had misplaced them. Last might about 8 PM, I went out to the garage to load up the JK for a day of work in the desert. I installed the CB and placed the GPS on the dash. I use the GPS in both cars.
I also put my trail load in the back. I left home a 5:45 AM this morning and when I got up to speed I leaned down to turn on the GPS. It was missing. I searched the garage and it was no where to be found. When I returned from the desert this afternoon, I looked all over again, but no GPS. So I called the police. The investigating officer said it was not unusual for a burglar to return for a second "round" if they think there is more stuff to get. A year ago they investigated about one burglary a day, in the past two months that number has jumped to five a day. BTW, GPS units are the most sought after items from cars. Bottom line. Be careful. There are a lot of folks out there who need money to feed families. It's just not for dope anymore. The real killer for me is the dozens of trails I had programmed it to my unit that are gone until I get a chance to run those trails again. Bummer.

Yes, the garage is attached to the front of the house. I am going to activate the house security system tomorrow and install a steel grate over the 3'X4' window in the garage. We are going to have a neighborhood meeting this weekend and a police officer is going to come over a give is a brief. To be very truthful, I am scared to death that the came back twice in the same day. I don't think I will sleep well tonight.

do you have a garage door opener? i don't think its all too hard to get the frequency that the remote uses to open them when you are not there. i have pad locks in the track of my door so it can only open from the inside. inconvenient, but it makes me feel safer.
I feel your pain I had my GPS stolen as well. Then they took the spare change out of my change cup, took my car cleaning supplies, photo album of my family and vehicles. Then if that wasn't enough they slashed all four tires and key the vehicle. WTF!!
I guess it's the world we live in.
Luckly for me no return visit. But there will be a nice surprise
for them next time.
Lots of hot lead...
Sorry to hear it happened to yet another person.
Seems like the police aren't to worried about it you got insurance right???
That's what I was told.

For Michelle,
Tonight I am using just plain old steel nuts and bolts to secure the roller tracks. Hopefully I will be able to find something more sophisticated tomorrow. I hate to get into a siege mentality, but that's what we may all be looking at in the next year.
