July 25, 2009 Big Bear Run
SoCal_JK_2dr (Ty) led fifteen JKs and one full size Dodge pick-up on another great Big Bear Run. After meeting at the Big Bear Discovery Center we headed east on Highway 18 to 3N69. We aired up there and took 3N69 north through Gold Mountain. When we hit 3N16, we took it west all the way to 3N34. We headed west on 3N16 with the intention of going down Dishpan Creek. Unfortunately, there was a Range Rover stuck plugging up Waterfalls. We ended up taking the long way around to get to the swimming hole on the west side of Dishpan Springs. We spend a couple hours swimming and then headed to Ty’s cabin for a barbeque.
The picture below is a map of the run:
JKs from the San Diego area, Long Beach, Orange County, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and various points in between participate in the run. A good time was had by all.
Below are photographs from the run. The first photograph is us airing up at 3N69 just off Highway 18:

The first obstacle we encountered on 3N69 was at:

Elevation: 7,312 ft
Pictured below is the 3N69 rock garden:

Elevation: 7,815 ft
While driving down 3N16, we passed through some of the burn area. It is just beginning to come back to life. The picture below was at:

Nice write up Eric! And it was great to finally meet you 
wish we could have stayed longer at the BBQ but like I said we had other commitments the next morning and a long drive ahead of us. Did you see Chips post in the Trails & Tales? I posted a link that has pics with at least one of you guys.
