Kickoff to Summer Sierra Camping Trip: May 28th - 30th
Memorial Day weekend has always marked the beginning of summer for us and it's typically the first one that we start making our treks back up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Of course, thanks to all the crazy late and unusual snowfall, we weren't sure if we were going to do this but, after talking to a few people at the OC Public Works Open House and looking at the weather forecast, I think we're gonna pull this off after all. Needless to say, for those of you who are interested, we are planning a scenic run/camping trip up to the Sierra Nevada Mountains this coming weekend and we'd love to have you join us.
The official plan is to meet up with everyone on Saturday in Bridgeport and then head up to camp but, for those of you who can get Friday off, a few of us will be heading up early to try and secure a campsite. For the most part, this will just be a rest and relaxation camping trip with opportunities to hike and fish and depending on the snow levels, we may try to explore some of the old mining camps and remote lakes in the area as well. We will be coming home on Monday morning. Please note that this will be back country dry camping and there are no toilets or potable water. Also, while the weather forecast is showing fair temps by day (upper 60's), nighttime temps will still be on the cold side (30's) so you will need to pack accordingly.
Unfortunately, this is all the information that I have available at this time but will try to post up more as it becomes available. If you have any questions or would like to join us, please post up on this thread to let us know.

This is mostly a break away from the city and all the stupid crowds that will be out on the trails locally. There are fire roads up in this area but nothing that would amount to being a "wheeling" trail. There will most likely be A LOT of snow up there (20 ft snow drifts) and to the point where many of the trails in the area will be impassible.

Could still be a bunch of snow up there.
