Hey everyone... I'm proud to say I'm only about a week away from changing just about everything on my stock 2010 Rubicon Unlimited (see build list in signature line). I'm looking forward to it's first trail run maybe the end of October...

What's a good first shake out run?
Dishpan? Cleghorn? 2N17X? Gold Mountain? White Mountain? (I've done all of these before but in my H1 Hummer so it'll be very different I'm sure this time around in the new JK)

Sounds like a nice build! Cant wait to see some pics when you get it done. I love the Big Bear area. I vote to head up there and test it out before we start to get the snow. not that snow wheeling is bad......just different. We should head up there in the snow too!

Finally... Got it done and did a little testing last week here locally. Running Cleghorn and 2n17x this coming weekend so I can't wait to see how she does on a real trail run. Here's some quick photo's of it next to it's bigger brother that just sold last night:

Your JKU looks cool, nice work.

Pity you sold the Alpha though.

A group of us are running it on Saturday if you want to come along. I hear Cleghorn may be pretty mellow after the forest service shut down some optional trails and did a bunch of maintenance so cleghorn may go pretty fast and we may spend more time on 2n17x.

2n17x this route being the easier or harder trail? I haven't ran Clerghorn before.

What time saturday and what other rigs are going? as far as suspension and experience?

Default This Weekend

Mixed group going this saturday. Sounds like a couple of JK's, one Rover, a couple of H1's, and maybe an H3 or 2. A couple of stock vehicles and a few heavily modified so I'm not sure what pace we will be running as I'm also not the trail leader.

I'm a newbie to the JK world but not to these trails or offroad. I'd say Cleghorn and 2n17x are about the same in difficulty I've just heard rumor that the forest service has shut down some fun (read challenging) parts of Cleghorn but I haven't confirmed it.

The group is meeting at 10am under the bridge at the Cleghorn offramp Saturday morning. CB channel 37.

The forest service did shut down some trails in Cleghorn, but there are still plenty of fun and challenging trails to run. I think 17X is slightly more challenging than the Cleghorn area. (my opinion) I like to run Cleghorn then cross the road and around the dam to 17X. Its a fun day!!!

Need some additional bump stops in the rear because of rubbing but other than that it worked great. I'm guessing the rubbing was primarily because of the wheel offset on the racelines so on stock wheels w/ a spacer it would be fine as is. No biggie. I really like the racelines so I'll deal with a little more meat added to the bumps.
