I am not sure if you want front, rear or both. But on the rear Gen 3 links the tire carrier to the tailgate so it opens together. It requires the full width, but is a nice feature not available on the Gen 2. I am sure others with experience will chime in.

Good luck

the reason im looking at lod is because you can add the fuel can holders and the rack on top of the tire. i like other bumpers but i dont know if i can add the rack and fuel can holder on to them.

Check out the Rockhard bumper/carrier. You can add can holders and a trail rack.

as well as shrockworks
they are known well for two things
#1 probably the nicest made bumpers
and #2, a helluva long wait

if your like me and can handle waiting for quality, then shrockworks is your brand

I have the LoD rear shorty with tire carrier, trail rack and rotopax arms and I love it. quality and built tough. the gen 3 gives to options to move everything up and down. The best descion I have made besides buying my jeep.

Here's my LOD gen 3 stubby (no opening with the gate option tho). So far I love mine, haven't had no problems.

Well if you order new you can only get the gen 3 carrier. They haven't changed the bumper it's self at all. the gen 3 carrier is way better. Everything is adjustable. There is no metal to metal on the pivot hinge point. And it can be linked in the fullwidth version. my gen 3 linked fullwidth just shipped out this week and should be here next week

Be prepared and for-warned that the wait is looooong, so everybody says. But that did not stop me from placing my order for my rear bumper with tire carrier on june first, 2011. I've heard that the workmanship and quality are top notch, so for me the wait is worth it
