Default Mammoth June 7-9

I'll be up there with a small group and was wondering if anyone was going to be in the area next weekend? It'll be nice to roll with someone who's familiar with the trails up there.

I know I've had trouble finding good trails in or around Mammoth. Trails I found with any rock crawling, were pretty short. Otherwise there's a lot of sandy/loamy high desert trails to drive on, lots of washboard. Hopefully you'll have better luck than I did finding fun trails. Be sure to post up pics after your trip!

Not much hardcore wheeling up there. Mostly fire roads but... with that said there is lots to see.

Twin Lakes
Bristlecone Pines

And lots of other sites. Consult Roger Mitchell's High Sierra SUV trail VOL I The Eastern Slope. Book is broken down by areas.

Bummer a week off, I am headed there in the morning, yep not a lot of hard stuff to wheel on, but the view from what you can do is incredible!

Take the short trip down to Bishop and go up Silver canyon to the top of the White's. If you want to do an all day-er drop off the other side into NV. There are 2 canyons you can go down, Wyman Creek Rd or Crooked Creek(my favorite) and come back thru Benton. Dumps you out on the 395 close to the airport near Mammoth. Things to see:
Bighorn Sheep (2 years in a row)
Bristle Cone Pines
Hot springs
Deer in the canyon on the way down Crooked Creek (Last year in the fall 3 huge bucks)
Old Mines
All Dirt roads, no crawling
