Looks like u went a lil too far. One of the nut serts for my trans cooler did that and I had to drill it out. Looks like it will be much more of a pita to drill out of the sheet metal:(

Well I went ahead and powered through it. 2 hours, 7 beers and a few "wtf" moments and I'm done side one.

Well I have to paint it still but at least it's mounted!

That's just a defective nut sert. One side collapsed before the rest. They are supposed to collapse on themselves evenly. Gently using a pry bar helps and you don't have to drill it out.

I think the problem was 1, I tightened to much. 2, the provided tool wobbles when tightening due to slope between the bolt and "tool" part. Either way, they all lines up and are holding strong. Rock!

Probably too late for this thread, but in case anyone else is looking...

We did my EVO rock skins with the Harbor Freight crap and went through 3 of them. When we did my rear rock skins I splurged a bit and got one of these.

Astro Pneumatic Tool 1442 13" Nut/Thread Hand Riveter Kit : Amazon.com : Automotive

Hands down no comparison. We could knock about ~6 nutserts out in the time it took us to do 1 with the HF tool. No spinning, the holes are in the center, etc. So good we started looking for other places to used nutserts. I am not sure what the guy on the amazon review was doing to have a bad experience.

Anyway, good luck with the install.
