Memorial Day Weekend
Truckhaven Hills is located near the Salton Sea in California and is the venue for the popular annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari.
The landscape lends itself to this event easily as the topography consists of sandy washes, rocky canyons, deep gorges with almost perpendicular walls and great hill climbs. As the soil is quite loose the rains cause the silt to be washed out like powdered sugar.
This changing topography provides an excellent challenge for a great 4x4 run and is a good test for all the OHVs worth their name.
The trail graduates from sand washes, rocky canyons to steep hill climbs and is clearly marked with colored arrows giving to indicate which of them is easy, challenging and extreme.

Yep, that was what I was thinking. Red Dog is right though. It could be a little chilly. Might have to put my doors on, and bring a coat.
Kinda cold for camping if the wind blows and anyone's guess on availlability of budget motels in Mammoth or vicinity. Just checked, Motel 6 $95 per night.
Plus the places I'm thinking of in Mammoth may still have snow.
Oh wait! Maybe the places I'm thinking of in Mammoth still have snow!!!I'm open for ideas.
Maybe Glamis to watch everyone trash their stuff?
