Moving to SOCAL
IRT = In Regards To. I think.
I also think he or she is moving to San Diego. DDG or CG. Am I right?
1. Tinted windows are a cop magnet. They will pull you for speeding and ask you if you want a $10 fix-it ticket + remove the tint or do you want a $250 speeding ticket and the higher insurance premiums that come with it.
2. Mods are pretty wide open here. Lifts, rims & tires, bumper(s), even lights are good. We don't have to cover our lights.
If you transfer a vehicle from another state you have to go through an inspection if you register it here. Turn signals, Horn, Headlights, etc. They don't (or didn't) get too involved.
If you are registered in a two license plate state, you have to run the front plate. They will check.
As long as you're reasonably street legal you shouldn't have any problems.

I bought mine in arizona and had to get it inspected and pay sales tax, registration, etc... $600 or something like that.
Good news: My windows are all tinted and I don't have a front licence plate and DMV didn't care. I'm not sure if you'll get one that's that lax, but just wanted to share my experience.

WTF,,,,,, OK first off, yes you do have to cover your off road lights and there is limit to how many you can have on the street, there are restrictions on tires rims coverage = mud flap fender violations etc..... There are lift heights on passenger vehicles,
But hey at least you got the tinted window stuff almost right, theirs usually no choice.

Ditto, Fish Diggity. I have 30% smoke tint on the front windows and I have never been hassled for it. Again, knock on wood.

P.S. - And to the Original Poster, to quote the late, great Pac and Dre:
"Now let me welcome everybody to the wild, wild west
A state that's untouchable like Elliot Ness
The track hits ya eardrum like a slug to ya chest
Pack a vest for your Jimmy in the city of sex
We in that sunshine state with a bomb a$$ hemp beat
the state where ya never find a dance floor empty."
Welcome to California!

It's looking like a DDG right now and that is not firm yet. Either way I want to make sure I stay in regs and I think I will keep it registered here in Florida.

Keeping it registered in Florida will avoid the inspection and fees.
Again...If you run one plate you will get stopped at the gate, the gaurd will walk to the back and check the rear plate. If the rear is a 2 plate state, you will get scraped (instantly!!!) and turned around. If it is a 1 plate state they will wave you in. They have all of the states memorized.
FWIW most people I see roll with their lights uncovered.
Which DDG? I visit most of them from time to time. I am normally around TIC and IDS. One day when you're sitting RSC I might tap you on the shoulder.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that lights only have to be covered if they are above hood level (i.e. my offroad lights on my bumper don't have to be covered, but if I mount lights on the windshield, or a light bar those will have to be covered).

CHP didn't even mention my tint though.....knock on wood
