Default Need Help in So Cal, OC

Hello everyone. I've been a member since 2008 and have been to some meet and greets and beginner runs but nothing recently due to pursing a masters degree. Unfortunately I have just been diagnosed with Stage 3 cancer a few weeks ago. My JK has 55k on it and I have only done oil changes, tire rotations and a transmission service. I know I am due for changing the differentials and I have purchased a new set of spark plugs. My treatment is at UCLA and the JK is really packing on the mileage driving everyday from Huntington Beach to UCLA.

Is there someone kind enough to help me change the differential fluids and install the new spark plugs? Maybe also just give the JK a quick look over to make sure that it is able to make it to ULCA and back each day. My energy and strength just are not there right now to be wrenching. I'm willing to pay for your services as long as they are not what the dealer wants $$ to do the work. My bills are starting to pile up now that I am 2 rounds into my chemo therapy treatments. I am also very good with computers so I can trade the work and fix almost anything with computers and laptops including software upgrades.

I am available Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I am not sure how long this will take but if you tell me what I need to buy I will make sure to have it. I will even drive to your house. Buy you Pizza and Beer. I just need to make sure the JK is in good shape since other family members will be driving me starting on Monday. I can only allow experienced wrenchers since this is important to me beating this. If all goes well my treatment will be over in October and I will be cured! I would be extremely grateful if you or a few JK'ers are able to help.

Thanks in advance,

Eddie

Wow sorry to hear that and I hope your treatment is successful.

I'm not capable of helping but I'm sure you'll have plenty of people chime in shortly who can. Lots of great folks on this site

Wow I'm really sorry to hear that. I would have no problem helping you, and there's no way in hell I'd accept any payment. I can't do it this week though, as I am working straight through till next week. If you haven't done anything to it by next week, count me in for a helping hand! I'm no certified mechanic, but doing a differential fluid job or something like that is really easy

Just curious, have you thought about looking for a small local Jeep shop to do a "once over" on your JK? A small shop would probably charge a lot less than some dealership or really popular Jeep shop. Just a thought.

Thanks B100. If I don't get the help I can work something out with you possibly next weekend. I know they are easy jobs but I can't risk screwing them up plus the fatigue is an issue. Thanks to you also Blonda. I am looking forward to this being all over and my health going back to normal. I was in the best shape of my life when I was diagnosed. I'm 31 years old and an ocean lifeguard and semi-professional surfer. I couldn't believe the news.

I'm available next Saturday the 21st and can look over/service your Jeep for you. Let me know as soon as possible if that works for you so I can keep my schedule open.

Stay strong man. You can do it. There will always be better days and times to look forward to. I know what it feels like to feel like it's never going to get better. I went through my own very very serious, life threatening illness last year that completely drained me too. I am no mechanic nor do I have too too much wrenching experience, but if I can help in any other way, please feel free let me know.

Thanks Irish JK. I hate all of this so much. Worst part is that I was very health conscious.
