Default need some trail ideas

My brother in law is coming to town for a week and wants to do some off roading. I'm taking him with me on that night cleghorn run on the 20th as a passenger, but he also wants to take a day trip with his own truck as well. He recently traded his dodge ram for a Toyota tundra. Its lifted, but I just don't see him doing any of the trails I typically do. He could make cleghorn, but he'd have to stick to the main road, and I won't want to take him back there after making the night run. I'm looking for some ideas on where to take him.

Where would a good day trip be that I could take a guy in a slightly lifted tundra? I'm thinking something along the lines of more sightseeing than obstacles. Has to still be off the beaten path though. I'm down to drive 3 hours or a little more if needed. Thanks for any ideas.

...and before anyone says it, I've already thought about taking him on a day trip to a jeep dealership.

But go ahead and come up with some more funny comments so long as you have a good trail idea to offer up as well.

Ocotillo wells would work for a tundra but I can't imagine how hot it will be during the summer. Pismo beach.. ... But I really like your "jeep dealer" Idea lol

Edit: oh, and I forgot (not really a trail, but still a ohv area) Azusa canyon to watch all the muddin' . Im not big on mud, but it's cool to back up, set up a BBQ and watch people get their rides stuck.

I still haven't been to Rowher Flats. That might be a solid contender right there.

Never heard of Azusa. I'll look into that one, but he wants to do some driving and I know he isn't into mud.

I honestly don't think he'd make it up pancake rock... Ha ha. That road had some pretty deep ruts. Maybe I'm not giving his truck enough credit. I'll keep that trail on the list and throw it out to him.

Its funny. I checked out a social tundra forum and found a poll asking how many folks take there truck off road and how often. Only 7 people answered saying they took there truck off road at all. I know I've seen way more built tundras than that around here. I've always wondered what trails they do. I guess I got my answer. I'm glad my brother in law is at least interested in trying something out.

Thanks for the replies so far. Keep em coming.

I did some cruisin around up in Big Bear this weekend with the wife and dog. We stuck to the easier fire roads ...3n16, 3n14.
They were fun with little off shoots and water crossings. Don't think I had it out of 2wd the whole time. That might work for you guys. You could also check out Jacoby Canyon (3n61) I haven't done that one yet but all the vids/reports look pretty easy.

Big bear would be a good cruise for sure.....there's a canyon up in tustin area don't remember the name but simple and scenic....take him up hyw 74 and go to the ohv are on the Elsinore side...wildomar ohv....there's easy and then there's monster rutted I have seen several rigs flipped on...but there's a lot of cool roads up there that lead to Santa Rosa plateau and fall brook...easy but very chill and there's places for you to show off should yo feel the need...

There are nice fire roads running all long Otay close to the border, naturally the border patrol uses these and most likely can do most in 2wd...
