Default Noob on the loose!!!

Hey guys!

Yep, my girlfriend and I just bought a 08 Rubicon unlimited... Seems our idea of what the Rubi is for differs a bit, but I have a plan to slowly work her over to the dirty side...

We are both first time jeep owners, however I have done quite a bit of wheeling in a Toyota P/U I used to have, but I sold that 8 years ago.

For the last few years, I have filled my off-road needs on two wheels, and have been over much of the California desert and Baja.

So, my plan:

The Jeep is bone stock right now, and I plan to keep it that way until I get enough knowledge to make mods that matter.

To that end, I want to take some easy day trips to start with, maybe find some small local groups that want to spend the day in Anza, or Big Bear, or ... I hate to say it, but I will have to be carefull, and avoid scratches at least for the first few months as this is her daily driver, and she likes how "pretty" it is...

By next fall, I hope to have a lift, tires, bumpers with a winch, and other mods that make these trips easier and open up more terrain. Ultimately, I want to do the Rubicon in a couple of years.

So, there you have it... Anybody up for a day trip on October 19th?

Jake

Welcome to the Forum! By the pics I see that you made your way to Trabuco Creek Road Please Tread lightly there and stay on the Main Road. There are plenty of us out here who do very easy to moderate trail runs, feel free to join us at anytime. Good luck holding off on the mods, it's not an easy thing to do. (ask my phyciatrist)

See you on the roads and trails,

JaKe

Damn it is easy to be an ignorant NOOB jerk! Never even gave it a second though, figured, there are some rocks, can't possible hurt... You are right, there is probably somebody that would be out there looking at the turned up tire marked rocks, taking pictures, and working to get that road closed.

Live and learn! I will be more careful! Thank you!

That cracks me up! I would never think of that as a "weekend getaway spot" as is is 5 minutes from my house... Is is a great place to go and try out new suspension setting on my race bike, or break in a new set of tires in one of my KTMs... Usually it is a run out there in the evening, and go grab some food on the way home.

It is real pretty one you get in the trees, and there are some nice hikes off the end of the road.

Yeah there are some fun liitle sections along that road! It's a real blast right after a good rain , The cleanup the day after sucks though.

I am glad we have a new JK in the neighborhood, maybe you guys can join us for the Offroad Expo. There is a group of us heading out to it on Oct. 4th, it would be a good time to meet some of us and see some products in person rather than pictures in a mag or forum. If you see a run posted here please feel free to join us if you can. We don't mind at all and believe me there are some great people here with plenty of knowledge to share.

see yah,
JAKE
