Default Overdrive on 2012??

I see a lot of threads that mention turning off overdrive after upgrading tires, etc. I've asked in those threads and have never gotten an answer:

Does the 2012 have overdrive that can be turned on and off? I assume not because I've never seen a button or anything for it.

I haven't seen an off switch per say but if you put in drive and push the stick to the left/right where the number 4 is showing. The overdrive should be off at that point. What size tires did you go to that you need to turn off the overdrive?

Tapping the stick to the left will take it out of over drive, or prevent it from getting there if not in over drive yet.

Further tapping of the stick to the left will keep lowering the top gear the transmission can shift to. Tapping to the right will bring it back up a gear at a time.

Really just wanted to see if I have it on or off, but looks like from the responses, that the 2012 doesn't have overdrive. I assumed it didn't, but just posted in case someone said it's the XX button next to the XX...

Are you thinking it doesn't have overdrive, or doesn't have an overdrive "button"?

I assume it does, but just can't be disabled without doing the manual gear shift trick. I don't really want to deal with that, and don't even really know if I would need to disable it. Just wanted to try it if it was an on/off switch.

Tapping the stick to the left is a lot easier than having to reach for the button on the previous models.
I turn off the over drive all the time around town. It's a lot easier on the engine and transmission; eliminates a lot of shifting up and down, and keeps the engine at a better rpm.
That may be different for the 2012s, though, since the gearing is different.

Doesn't that switch into manual shift mode though? I prefer to keep it in automatic mode.

Also, could've sworn I started this thread in the 'modified' section. Probably should've been in the stock section. Weird that it looks like it was moved to the Socal section. Or did I start it in socal by mistake? I see others have replied from other areas, so looks like it was moved.

I believe tapping the lever left or right only limits the top gear the transmission will go to.
If you tap it once to the left, it will be automatic through 4th gear, and not go into 5th.
Likewise, tapping it a second time to the left will make 3rd be the top gear. 4th and 5th will be manually selectable by tapping to the right.

This is how it acted on a test drive. Try it on yours and see if I am correct.
