I heard through a friend that there is now a honkin steel gate at the trailhead of Pancake Rock...
Does anyone happen to know anything about this?
I heard rumors the city or BLM or someone is wanting to close it down since there is an excessive amount of trash piling up at the top.
If anyone has info about what's going on, please share!

 

Sounds like a golden opportunity for an organized clean-up /trail maintenance day and I would invite BLM and encourage their participation to show we're responsible and care

 

there is a big ass aluminum gate there now. but there are 2 other new gates that where put up on the same rd. pancake rock is not that abused of a trail. ya some dumb ass went up there and spray painted the rock. but they have been cleaned now. the one thing i do notice is the .22, 9mm, and buckshot casings that are all over the main rock. everytime i go up there, there are new casings.

I would love to but I'm on duty Sunday. I really want to run this trail...haven't been able to yet.

 

Sunday run would have to be an afternoon thing as I have church in the morning..

 

Leaving mission hills/valley 11am tomorrow for pancake. There's another thread for it.

 

I hope they do not shut it down. It is a great trail. Will miss it if they do.
