Default Poppies in the AV

The poppies have started blooming like crazy in the Antelope Valley. We drove by the poppy preserve west of Lancaster today and saw the flower nuts in full bloom too! There were painters on one side of the road and photographers and models on the other. It's worth a trip from down below.
I'll post some picks after I get some.

Trouble with the Poppy Festival is that it's usually held after the poppies are gone and for some reason the weather is always crappy. If I were going to come see the flowers I'd come this weekend.

The poppy preserve area was pretty good west of Lancaster. Take avenue I west from the 14 until you see the poppies. Also saw a sign that said they are giving tours of Shea's Castle. Don't know the cost but might be fun. I've also heard that the area between Bakersfield and Tehachapi is really blooming.

Toad, we thought about going but thought it would be overcast like it was in Valencia. I really like the shot with the road in the middle.

I think we'll probably run over there Friday or Saturday depending on the weather. The flowers are at their best when the sun is out and there is no wind. I want to get some more shots of the boys in the poppies. There will probably be a mob there this weekend so it might be best to get there early.
Anyone know any other areas that are blooming now.
