Project-JK Death Valley Racetrack Run
Okay boys and girls, I know I'm really late in posting this but with SEMA and all dominating the last few weeks of my life, I hope you can be forgiving. Anyway, our first trip up to Death Valley is still a go and here's the low down...
This is our new tentative itinerary:
• Saturday morning, we will be meeting up in Lone Pine at the Mt. Whitney Restaurant at 10:00 AM.
• Top off our tanks and head south east to DV on 136
• Make our way into DV on Cerro Gordo Rd.
• Make a stop at Cerro Gordo
• Decend into Lee Flat
• Cross over into Saline Valley
• Meet up with any one already in DV at the Lippencott trail head at 2:00pm
• Make our way up Lippencott Mine Rd. to Race Tracks
• Setup Camp at south end of the Race Tracks
• Sun morning - Head north to Teakettle Jct.
• Head south down Hidden Valley
• Cross Hunter Mt.
• Head out 190 to home
Just so you know, this trip is going to be very different then ones we've done in the past as it is easy and intended to be a scenic trip. Need I say, we will be making lots of stops to take in the scenery and take tons of photos. Need I say, if you are looking for a hard core wheeling adventure, this may not be the run for you.
As far as weather goes, we should be looking at temps in the mid-upper 80's by day and upper 50's to low 60's by night. However, we will be crossing some higher elevations and temps can get considerably cooler up there and we will be decending into valley floors that can get considerably hotter even at this time of the year. So, if you're going to be joining us for this run, please come prepared and bring clothing for all conditions and make sure to bring plenty of water. Another thing I should mention is that we will be back country camping and campfires are not typically allowed.
At this point and time, food will be taken care of by each individual. If this changes, I will be sure to let you all know as soon as I can. If you have any questions, please post them here so that everyone can benefit from the Q&A's. And, last but not least, if you are planning to join us, please chime in here so that we can get a head count and help us to plan things better.
Eddie
